The Flying Anvils depict the transformation of the Merry Hill Shopping Centre from the derelict Round Oak Steelworks to the vibrant shopping centre that it is today. The anvils represent the past metal-working industries of the Black Country; they have grown wings and are flying off to "greener pastures". The sculpture is 5.5 metres high.
The sculpture was tested in
the field beside the workshop prior to installation in the mall.
